Android Installation Instructions

Step 1: Download the Certificate

Tap the button below to download the SonicWALL DPI-SSL certificate file.

⬇️ Download Certificate
2

Open Downloads

After the download completes, open your device's Downloads app or notification panel.

3

Locate the Certificate File

Find the downloaded file named SonicWallCertNew.cer or sslcert.crt in your Downloads folder.

4

Install the Certificate

Tap on the certificate file to open it. Android will prompt you to install it:

  • Enter a name for the certificate (e.g., "SonicWALL DPI-SSL")
  • Make sure "Credential Use" is set to "VPN and apps" (this is the default)
  • Tap "OK" to install
💡 Alternative Method: If tapping the file doesn't work, you can also install it through Settings → Security → Install from storage (or Encryption & credentials → Install a certificate).
5

Set Screen Lock (if required)

If you don't already have a screen lock set up (PIN, password, or pattern), Android will require you to set one before installing the certificate. Follow the prompts to create a screen lock.

⚠️ Security Notice

After installing the certificate, you may see a notification that says "Network may be monitored" or similar. This is a standard Android security warning that appears whenever you install a custom certificate. This is normal and expected. The notification will appear each time your device restarts.

6

Verify Installation

To verify the certificate was installed correctly:

  • Go to Settings → Security (or Settings → Biometrics and security)
  • Tap "Encryption & credentials" or "Credential storage"
  • Tap "User credentials" or "Trusted credentials"
  • Look for the SonicWALL certificate in the list
Note: The exact menu paths may vary slightly depending on your Android version and device manufacturer (Samsung, Google, OnePlus, etc.).
✓ Installation Complete!

You should now be able to access DPI-SSL protected sites without certificate warnings on your Android device.
